Wharf Wraps

Review Edit: During our original review the price for fish and chips was $10.00, however, on a recent return visit to Wharf Wraps we discovered the price has risen to $12.00. Other than that change, everything else was as we had experienced before.

It might be a bit out of the way for some, but upon the strong recommendation of a friend we decided to give Wharf Wraps a try. With a name life Wharf Wraps you wouldn’t expect the selection we saw on the menu… but regardless of the selection available to us, we were there for the fish and chips.

For those who traditionally order a two piece fish and chips… you won’t be doing that here. Their one piece is priced and sized like a two piece at other restaurants. They don’t give you a portion of a haddock fillet, but the entire fillet. You can order a second piece of fish for $9… but you’d have to be pretty hungry to do that.

Our overall impression of the fish and chips at Wharf Wraps… it will be pretty tough for another restaurant to beat it.

Rachel’s Thoughts
Excellent portion size, nice crispy non-greasy batter. Fries are just ok. Kraft tartar sauce. This fish was awesome!

Poochie’s Thoughts
This was very good. Very fresh white flaky fish. The batter was nice and crispy, not greasy at all. I can’t believe how little grease there was. The flavour was quite nice.

The fries, however, were a different story. They are obviously store-bought, and to make matters worse they didn’t taste very fresh or hot. They almost seemed stale to me. It’s too bad, because that was the only thing to bring down my score for this excellent meal. If they fixed up the fries it would be pretty tough to beat this restaurant.

BTW… they used Kraft tarter sauce, which I have no problem with. I’d rather Kraft than some poorly concocted home-made slop.

Minnie’s Thoughts
Really good, would definitely get this again. I really liked the fish but I found the fries not so good. Good coleslaw.

Skippy’s Thoughts
Portion wise it reminded me of the fish you’d get in Scotland, but not your typical batter. Crunchier than most – which was a nice change. The grease factor? Wow. You’ll have a hard time finding a serving of fish and chips that compares.  Zero grease.

The fries were average, but I came for the fish.

Keep in mind I’m an anti-tartar sauce person so my condiment of choice is ketchup, which I found nice and sweet.

Impressive. If only the fries were a little better than average. This place will be tough to beat.
